The Birth Reflections service has been developed as a specialist service for women to review their birth experience with an experienced midwife. The aim is to address gaps in understanding and questions the woman and her partner may have, discuss on-going emotional, psychological and physical concerns, and choices and recommendations for any future birth. The post holder will work closely with the Birth Reflections Service Lead Midwife and maternity support worker and will run a full day's clinic, supporting women and their partners by reviewing their experience with them through notes review and careful listening., Will be an autonomous, accountable practitioner responsible for a birth reflection clinic. These consultations will involve exploring with women and their supporters their experience of birth, reviewing the notes in partnership with them, addressing questions or concerns and providing appropriate follow-up and support as necessary. Also will work with the Birth Reflections Service Lead Midwife to implement changes as a result of the feedback from the women's experiences.Working for our organisation Our Maternity Vision is 'Working together with women, birthing people and families to offer compassionate, supportive care and informed choice; striving for equity and excellence in our maternity service.' We were awarded an overall good rating from CQC who inspected the service in 2023 The Maternity unit deliver just under 5000 babies a year. We provide care for a diverse population across West Berkshire. Part of our maternity strategy is equity in access and outcomes tackling the multiple dimensions that affect local healthcare inequalities. The unit comprises of a delivery suite, midwife led birth centre, postnatal and antenatal wards, outpatients and Maternity Assessment Unit. We have a very successful home birth service, specialist teams to support vulnerable women and continuity of care teams. We have developed a 'seeking sanctuary ' service which is a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to pregnant women seeking sanctuary in the UK and their families. This service was presented as good practice in the NHS three year delivery plan. We are strongly committed to developing our services and ensuring the those that work with us are given support and development opportunities., Providing a midwife led birth reflection clinic to women who have experienced care at the Trust. Supporting the feedback of findings of women's experience to influence positive changes to the service.
