Do you have the ambition, energy, and drive to be part of a unique and growing new school?
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of PE to join our growing secondary phase at St Mark's Church of England, All-through School in Southampton. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious teacher to develop their pedagogy and practice and actively contribute to our evolving PE curriculum. We welcome applications from specialists in any area; however, gymnastics/dance or hockey experience would be useful, as well as experience in the delivery of national qualifications at Key Stage 4.
St Mark's opened the secondary phase of its all-through school in 2022 when the school moved into brand new facilities. The school is highly oversubscribed and quickly established an excellent local reputation, including a rating of 'good' in all areas by Ofsted in 2022.
We are seeking an enthusiastic PE specialist across the all-through school, who is open to support and coaching, relevant CPD, and who buys into our culture of high expectations of behaviour and educational standards. As a growing school, there will be continuous evolution of middle and senior leadership roles for those who are ambitious and fully support staff who wish to undertake NPQs.
PE is a strength of our school. We have a fantastic department that not only teaches to a high standard but is also supported by the leadership team to offer our students across the whole school as many opportunities as possible to represent the school in competitions, festivals, and events. While the successful candidate will be particularly concerned with developing the girls' PE curriculum, they will teach all students throughout the all-through school.
We also have the newest sporting facilities across Southampton, which are the envy of many!
Although the opportunity to teach primary and secondary might be exciting for some and daunting for others, please do not worry! As a school, we plan for our strengths while giving support and encouragement to step out of your comfort zone. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the required subject knowledge to develop and grow within our supportive community.
We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and ECTs.
Applications can be made through TES or directly via the school website. Apply here and return completed applications to: recruitment@st-marks-southampton.org.uk.
We look forward to hearing from you. Closing date: Wednesday 26th February (4.00pm).
St Mark’s Church of England School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This role requires an enhanced DBS. Southampton City Council is an equal opportunity employer.
