The dermatology surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) team is a small but critical component of the Leeds Dermatology department at Chapel Allerton and St. James hospitals.
Our team coordinates and provides skin cancer telephone assessment (Direct to Surgery (DTS)) clinics, two-week-wait face-to-face skin cancer clinics, melanoma assessment and diagnosis clinics, minor skin surgery procedures, and wound review clinics. The successful candidates will be trained to undertake each aspect of these duties with the objective, in time being to undertake these either independently or under consultant or senior nurse supervision.
You will be fully supported in your training towards developing the necessary skills required for this role both by your NP colleagues and the wider dermatology team. Our team currently comprises the following personnel:
* B8 Advanced Clinical Practitioner (team development lead)
* B7 Clinical Specialist Practitioner (team manager)
* B3 Senior CSW
We work within a larger, very experienced dermatology outpatient department and together we support the Consultant team in managing an ever-growing and challenging skin cancer service. We are a friendly and hard-working team with a shared vision to innovate and improve care.

Job responsibilities
The jobholder will work within an environment caring for dermatology patients. They will demonstrate evidence-based care in the independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, planning of care, clinical treatment, evaluation, and health promotion of dermatological problems within agreed protocols. The jobholder will work in conjunction with the relevant dermatology consultants in order to provide a range of nurse-led clinic services in the dermatology department. The job holder will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of staff and implement nurse-led care. They will participate in mentorship and teaching programmes for multi-disciplinary groups within the department. The jobholder will provide senior nursing support, advice, and professional leadership to a group of clinical areas within dermatology. The jobholder will take charge of the unit as required.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Level 1)
* Teaching/assessing qualification
* Evidence of Post graduate education or equivalent experience professional development
* Recognised Nurse Practitioner qualification or evidence of completion of a competency-based clinical assessment and examination of patients knowledge and skills package
* Understanding of training needs in relation to post
