Job Title: Handyman (Fabric & Plumbing Engineer)\n Ideal candidate location: Reading or surrounding areas.\n This role will involve significant travel including local and surrounding areas along the M4 as far as Slough, Oxford, Bristol and into London.\n\nPackage and benefits\n Basic salary: £15/hr £31200 annual\n Mon - Fri 40 hours \n Travel time paid door to door \n Overtime available \n £100 retainer for standby (1 in 5 call out)\n 23 days holiday + banks (rises with length of service) \n Company van + fuel card (can opt into private use) \n\nOverview\n An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Handyman (Fabric & Plumbing Engineer). This role will involve regular maintenance duties across multiple sites, with an emphasis on high-quality fabric and plumbing repairs. The successful candidate will be working closely with a team of engineers, supervisors, and the administration team, with regular face-to-face interactions with clients.\n\nJob Duties\n\nExecute a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, with a focus on fabric and plumbing.\nGeneral Maintenance tasks (wall repairs, laying carpet tiles, replacing bulbs, ceiling tiles, cleaning traps)\nBasic plumbing (replacing taps, TMVs, etc.)\nBasic electrical (wiring in replacement appliances) - company will put candidates through an electrical competency for this if required\nCompliance tasks (tap temps, EL flick tests, etc)\nSafely operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle, following company policies.\nStay up-to-date on industry standards and job-specific skills to ensure high-quality service delivery.Key Responsibilities\n\nMaintenance & Repairs: Carry out all assigned maintenance tasks to meet the company's standard and deadlines.\nSupplies Management: Keep the company vehicle stocked with necessary tools and supplies to ensure efficiency.\nService Support: Respond to service and maintenance requests through the helpdesk and adhere to the company call-out rota.\nDocumentation & Reporting: Use the in-house electronic system to complete and submit all job-related paperwork and expenses.\nStock Control: Maintain appropriate stock levels for project continuity and ensure receipt documentation for all requisitioned materials.\nVehicle Care: Drive responsibly, keep the vehicle clean, schedule regular maintenance, and report any incidents immediately.\nTraining & Compliance: Attend training courses as needed to meet statutory requirements and keep up with industry best practices.Health & Safety\n The successful candidate must adhere to all company and client Health & Safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.\n\nQuality Assurance\n Our client follows BS EN ISO 9001:2008 standards.
The Fabric & Plumbing Engineer will ensure all work aligns with the company's standard operating procedures and quality expectations.\n\nAdditional Information\n This role requires significant travel, with an estimated annual mileage of approximately 30,000 miles.
