Salary: Pro rata of £23,151 per annum pro rata
Hours: Up to 32 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (paid for 43.2 weeks)
About the Learning Assistant role:
As a Learning Assistant, you will be supporting students requiring additional help with their programmes of study across various areas within College, creating positive relationships with them and assisting them in a classroom or workshop setting. This includes students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including emotional, social, behavioural and mobility needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the learning and emotional/social/behavioural needs of students receiving additional support.
* Provide support for personal care where necessary, including administering medication.
* Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials/resources.
* Ensure the smooth and effective administration of the provision.
* Create and maintain accurate records.
* Assist in the assessment of student needs.
* Continually review the students' support needs.
* Attend team and other meetings regarding student and curriculum development.
* Liaise with the Learning Support Team Leaders, Student Tutors and Lecturers.
* Supervise student learning where necessary.
Skills & Qualifications:
* GCSE (or equivalent) in English at grade C or above
* Experience working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
* Experience supporting the learning needs of students
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word
* Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
