Position Overview
Within our Capital Design and Delivery department, we are looking for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join our Waste Treatment Design Team.
Do you have experience in optioneering, design, the production of engineering drawings, managing projects, and finding and solving problems? Would you like to build your career in a place where you will be supported in every way of your career path to grow and do more? We have a wide range of waste treatment work going on in our team (c£200m across 70 projects) and we are able to offer technical work, leadership exposure, and commercial exposure which will build the skills you need to progress your career.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll manage individual projects to achieve a technical solution for Waste Treatment facilities for Severn Trent Water. During the early stages of a project, you’ll undertake feasibility evaluation/assessment for projects; as the schemes progress, you will create and evaluate designs and specifications for tender through in-house design and through the utilization of consultant design teams.
You will be responsible for generating the best overall solutions to the challenges of tomorrow's environmental needs and consumer expectations.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
You’ll come equipped with your design experience, preparing conceptual designs to create innovative and efficient solutions. You’ll also need to engage with appropriate stakeholders to understand the root cause of the business problem, so it's very important that you are confident in liaising with stakeholders and building relationships and influence at mid and senior leadership levels. You’ll be degree qualified and showing your professional commitment as a member of one of the engineering Institutions or actively working towards incorporated or chartered status, a journey which we are keen to support you on.
Having a water industry background would be great but not essential; however, experience in treatment processes with a civil background would be beneficial. Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets and those with the right experience, but we value character, positivity, and a caring attitude equally.
