Forta Productions is a global event production company that works exclusively for agencies and private event planners. We specialise in content creation, technical production, design and content creation, operating from our headquarters in South East London. We’re unique in how we bring together design & production to achieve events that stand out from the crowd. We’re a team of around 25 talented individuals, who have built a fantastic rapport both as a unit and with our clients – we’re collaborative & passionate, but most of all we love bringing events to life.
We are currently looking for a full time Technical Manager to provide experienced leadership in the planning and fulfilment of all technical delivery requirements. This position within the company requires proven experience in the events industry combined with excellent ability in all technical disciplines.
The Role
* Generating proposals and quotations for events, working directly with project managers to ensure that all events are fully planned and delivered smoothly.
* Onsite management of events from installation to de-rig, including crew management.
* Management of on-site freelance technicians, delegating responsibilities to ensure all duties are achieved within the deadline.
* Assisting the Operations team by suggesting suitable freelance technicians for projects from our database.
* Full knowledge of the company's stock hire equipment and its functions.
* Managing budgets to ensure maximum profitability without compromising quality.
* Stretching the client’s creative understanding to deliver the best possible event within their scope and budget.
* Working with the warehouse manager and team, ensuring all relevant stock is kept, serviced and prepped for jobs to the best possible standards.
* Be the overall technical point of contact for the project managers on each project you are assigned, servicing and coordinating all technical requirements.
* Ability to take an existing project and include all the necessary technical equipment to the kit list to ensure a working system.
* Prepare all the technical documentation to be added to the project drawing pack by our design team - Lighting plots, audio and video equipment positions on truss / in venue.
* Prepare accurate mains power and rigging load calculations as required, using systems provided, so the correct equipment is assigned to the project.
* Working closely with the project managers to ensure that the company's health and safety policy is adhered to.
* Managing kit utilisation and recommending new technologies/equipment that would bring value to the company and clients.
Skills & Attributes
* Background within events, technical management and/or equipment hire industries with experience working with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Understanding the technical requirements of the event industry, as well as event technology including brands such as d&b, Analog Way, Barco, Robe, Chamsys and Avolites.
* Extensive knowledge of video, audio, lighting and rigging as well as proven experience working with bands and touring artists; ability to specify and recommend microphones, PA systems and consoles.
* In-depth knowledge and comprehension of technical CAD drawings.
* Experience working with VectorWorks is preferred.
* BS7909 certification is preferred, but can be provided. A basic understanding of temporary electrical systems is a must.
* Ability to prepare video schematics outlining all the elements required in complex systems is preferred, but basic knowledge is a must.
* Able to maintain a high level of accuracy when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Comfortable with travelling and working overseas for periods of one week or more at a time
