Wood is recruiting for an Automation Hardware Engineer to join our System Integration (SI) team within our Digital Consulting business, focusing on the electrical hardware for a PLC across discrete automation projects. This is a hybrid role based at our Northampton office, with the exception of travel to site as required. Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. LI-Hybrid The Role The Engineer will be responsible for the initial design of the physical elements of the controls system through to supervising and supporting the actual build. You will join a small team who support exciting projects across high-profile clients within the Digital Consulting business. As an Automation Hardware Engineer, you will have the expert knowledge to assist in the implementation of a variety of projects, specialising in the hardware design of the electrical controls. Expected: Prior experience and competency in Automation and Control Engineering Add software Experienced in writing electrical controls hardware specification documents Detailed experience with multiple system implementation project and / or control system platforms Experience of the hardware specification and design of PLC systems and design of hardwired Safety Systems Experience in creating hardware installation documents Knowledge of modern automation and control applications, tools, methodologies, or equal training / experience Good working knowledge of current industry specific technology Inquisitive, well organised and have a keen eye for detail Desired: Bachelor's degree or a master's degree in an engineering discipline or professional qualification plus experience Brownfield upgrades / replacement automation and control projects experience Prior on-site experience is advantageous
