Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enrich the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.
Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.
We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over national and regional awards!
We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.
Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
1. There are 7 of us living together at Dean Lodge; our ages range from 22 to 66. We all have our own interests and we’re all individuals!
2. Some of us are independently mobile, while others need support using equipment. We need support to manage our health and wellbeing, as well as support to live as independently as possible while being supported to achieve our goals and aspirations!
3. Our staff are trained in many areas to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to support us safely and effectively. Some of this training includes Moving and Positioning, Administration of Medication, Emergency First Aid, and Positive Behaviour Support.
4. We are all individuals with our own likes and interests! Some of these include music, parties, swimming, reflexology, going to the theatre, gardening, watching films at the cinema, playing pool, and going to the pub to enjoy a pint or two.
5. Family is also very important to us, and it is essential that our staff include our family in all aspects of our lives.
6. We are loving, kind, and funny! We enjoy a happy, positive atmosphere and get along well with considerate and respectful people.
7. We would not enjoy being around people who are bossy, overpowering, or negative.
8. There is always a minimum of 3 staff on day shifts and two staff on night shifts at Dean Lodge.
9. We like our staff to work ‘early’ shifts (7am-2pm), ‘late’ shifts (2pm-9pm), and ‘waking’ night shifts (9pm-7am). We also like for our staff to work flexibly so that we can be supported to attend a variety of activities such as going to the pub or going to the theatre.
10. We need our staff to support us to achieve our best lives possible. We need our staff to be positive, encouraging, with a ‘can do’ attitude. Our staff need to be proactive and keen learners to help support us safely and effectively.
Your values: We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognize that not everyone who would be perfect for the role will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting based on individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; from those with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, to those with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
Naturally, it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to us, so we look for people with:
1. Patience
2. Empathy, compassion, and sensitivity to others
3. A strong work ethic
4. Reliability
5. Honesty
6. Determination
7. A problem solver
8. Resilience
