Electrical and Automation Engineer
Role Overview:
Huntsman is currently recruiting for an Electrical and Automation Engineer position at our chemical manufacturing site in Duxford. The selected candidate will work with the Process Safety & Engineering Manager and the Site Engineering, Maintenance & Project Teams to deliver the site EC&I Engineering requirements, including compliance with Process Safety Management, Regulatory requirements, and the Corporate CAPEX program. As an Electrical and Automation Engineer, you will also provide automation expertise to the site. It is a temporary position with a fixed term contract basis of around 18-20 months.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Act as the responsible EC&I Engineer, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high engineering standards.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of site engineering standards and systems to support compliance with EHS regulations and cost control.
3. Develop and deliver the site automation strategy.
4. Continuously improve the site's PLC/Scada system, minimizing the risk of failure and maximizing process benefits.
5. Contribute to the strategic investment approach for the site, providing EC&I support for CAPEX and small projects aimed at continuous improvement.
6. Work with Project Engineers to plan and cost all EC&I aspects within site-managed projects.
7. Support relevant EC&I projects to ensure timely and full delivery, meeting site corporate engineering standards.
8. Collaborate with the Engineering & Maintenance team to develop a suitable program of EC&I Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) to meet EHS, asset replacement, and continuous improvement requirements.
9. Provide technical support for the Maintenance Team.
Experience and Competencies:
What we are looking for:
1. Degree, HND, HNC, in a suitable Engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation).
2. Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a similar function.
3. Preferably, experience in the chemical industry; however, candidates with relevant experience in other industries will be considered.
4. Proficiency in English.
5. Knowledge of Engineering systems (e.g., SAP PM, PLC/Scada).
6. Proven record of delivering improvements.
7. Experience in managing projects is required.
8. LEAN manufacturing experience, including implementation/delivery.
9. Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
10. Understanding of regulatory and statutory Engineering requirements.
11. Computer literacy and high proficiency in major IT tools (SAP, MS Office, etc.).
12. Excellent team player with strong technical expertise.
13. Ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize tasks.
14. Proactive, career-focused attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
