CareerMakers Recruitment is currently looking for a Design Engineer to join our client based in St Helens.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Project management of electrical projects (from cradle to grave).
2. Understanding customer requirements.
3. Creation and/or checking of electrical diagrams and wiring schematics required by the project (single line diagrams, Keyline diagrams, AC & DC, wiring, etc.).
4. Checking of technical documentation such as load schedules, cable calculations, etc.
5. Working in collaboration with the production department to create the list of materials and component specifications.
6. Providing technical support to the rest of the team (Commercials, production, etc.).
7. Giving technical advice and assistance within the organization on electrical (HV, LV, and P&C) matters.
8. Being involved and leading the project during manufacturing, internal verification testing, customer-facing FATs, installation, and commissioning activities.
9. Delivering training to internal colleagues and external customers.
10. Developing engineering standards and providing support in developing standard solutions.
11. Managing sub-contractor designers and checking third-party works.
12. Undertaking business development activities to improve design processes and company procedures, and develop engineering standards to improve quality and lead times.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. 6+ years of experience within the electrical industry, ideally specializing in 33kV design.
2. A formal engineering qualification within the electrical engineering discipline.
3. Knowledge of power system protection schemes, at 11kV & 33kV.
4. A good working knowledge of AUTOCAD.
5. Demonstrable project management skills managing multiple projects at once.
6. Basic knowledge of SAP is also of interest.
7. The candidate may be required to occasionally visit sites and possibly our factories in Spain.
8. Protection and control systems design experience according to DNO standards in the UK.
9. Knowledge of UK standards and presentation of electrical schematics within the MV/HV industry.
Working hours:
1. Monday to Friday
2. Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm
3. Fri- 8am-1pm
Pay rate:
£13.00 until trained, then on a grading system.
