An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Infection Prevention and Control team at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS FT. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, have a good work ethic and demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with others.
The post holder will join a proactive, evidence based Infection Prevention & Control team that focuses on quality and safety to prevent and reduce the incidence of infections across the organisation.
The successful candidate must also be computer literate, have good organisational skills and be able to demonstrate autonomous working and an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The Infection Prevention and Control team offers a comprehensive service to the Trust providing clinical expertise and professional resource to the multidisciplinary team, patients and carers. The post holder will work as a member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team providing expertise and advice on the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infection to all disciplines of staff. The post holder will report to the Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist.
The role will be:
* To provide expert, clinical advice on all matters relating to infection control, outbreak management and hospital hygiene to senior clinicians, managers, ward and departments.
* To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, giving expert clinical advice on individual patient care and infection prevention and management i.e. during outbreaks and to contribute to measures necessary to ensure Trust and other service providers’ compliance with Risk.
* To assist in developing and reviewing specialist infection control policies and protocols, in order to promote and maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control practice that is evidence and research based.
* To provide training and education to increase awareness of infection control issues amongst all disciplines and grades of staff within the Trust.
