The Nexum Group are looking for a Business Development Manager for a key client based in the North West. The Engineering Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a critical role in driving growth and the expansion of the company’s electrical and mechanical engineering services or products. This individual is responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing business opportunities with both new and existing clients. The role requires a blend of technical understanding, commercial acumen, and excellent relationship-building skills to effectively communicate the company’s engineering solutions and secure business deals. What does it entail? This role will be predominantly office based at the clients' HQ in Sunderland. You will be responsible for developing and growing new business accounts for the business. You will have responsibility for the full process from generating leads, presenting business opportunities and managing those new and existing client relationships. The role would be perfect for someone who has proven sales experience within key industries such as Utilities, Aviation, Rail, Industrial, Manufacturing or Residential. The ideal candidate will have an inquisitive nature, with sustainable industrialisation also a focus. What experience and behaviours do we look for? 5 years of experience in business development or sales, ideally within an electrical or mechanical services environment. Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing large-scale deals. Experience in managing client relationships, including negotiating contracts and managing expectations. Prior experience in working with technical teams to deliver engineering solutions. A positive self-starter with the ability to demonstrate commitment to your work. Be up-to-date with social media LinkedIn trends and best practices. An energetic, tenacious and positive in outlook. Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical products and services, along with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of industry standards, market trends, and regulatory requirements relevant to the ME field. Familiarity with project management tools and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent).
