We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Furniture Repair Trainee Technicians. As a trainee, you will undergo a comprehensive training program to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in this role. Role Purpose As a Trainee, to undertake learnings and teaching for the person to ultimately provide our customers with a prompt, courteous and professional furniture repair service in close liaison with our internal support team; to promote and protect the good name of the Company. You will be based from home address visiting customers within a certain region. You must have a driving licence as you will be provided with a company van to perform this role Primary Responsibilities Visit customers in their homes or other specified places (initially under supervision) to inspect upholstery, leather furniture, cabinets, Work surfaces and beds to determine the cause of the problem and recommend/undertake corrective action. Visit client’s commercial properties/warehouses (initially under supervision) to inspect upholstery, leather furniture, cabinets, and beds to determine the cause of the problem and recommend corrective action. To record all information required on relevant company documentation (PDAs) and return these to head office by specified deadlines. To undertake to follow the timelines of a trainee, with the support of Castelan Training department and any third-party training providers that engage with Castelan. Carry out authorised repairs to upholstery, leather furniture, cabinets and beds within agreed time limits and standards, within skill range and following training timelines. Aim to achieve a first visit fix rate and replacement ratio as required for your skill range in line with the companies grading criteria. To feedback any ideas, innovations or information which will add value to the company Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and ensure that repair sundries are stocked to the agreed levels Ensure your company vehicle is maintained and cleaned as per the company vehicle policy statement Any other reasonable tasks as requested by your Line Manager/s and/or Group Director Essential Experience and Technical skills Minimum to 2 years generalist working experience. A valid driving licence containing no more six penalty points. Have a driving licence for at least 12 months and proven ability to drive a van/larger vehicle. Ability to lift and move furniture in order to assess customer claims. Demonstrate reliability and flexibility in attitude and approach to work. An open attitude to learning new and progressive skills based around the complete furniture market. Desirable Experience and Technical skills Have some experience of practical working, with a problem-solving attitude. Have some experience in furniture including assembly and de-assembly process and procedures. Can demonstrate a good level of dexterity when using hand tools. Previous face-to-face interaction with general public desirable. Training and Development You will undergo a 6 – 12-month initial training programme, requiring time to be spent at a training venue near your home or at our Head Office in Weston-Super-Mare (dates and schedule would be provided in advance). Also buddying up with our experienced Furniture Technicians in the field, in your geographical area, visiting various customers. This is to gain hands on experience of performing as a Furniture Technician. You will be offered a full training and development programme in all areas of the Furniture Technician role, including technical skills, soft skills, system training, driving assessments and customer care skills. We will also supplement the in-house training programme with an external Apprenticeship qualification in Furniture Repair and Assembly and Customer Service. The Recruitment Process If you are successful at the initial application shortlisting stage, then you will be invited to a Telephone Interview as a first stage. If you are successful at this stage, you shall be invited to an Interview Round which shall be held in a venue near your home address, where you will meet one part of the Network Management Team in a meet and greet and formal interview. You may also be asked to complete a couple of practical assessments to determine skill set and aptitude.
