An opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join the Secondary Care Psychological Therapies Service (SCPTS) in Stockport. This is a permanent, part-time (0.8 WTE) post.
Our team is located in a Psychological Therapies Department based at Stepping Hill Hospital. We are a friendly, connected team comprising Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists who value continued professional development and peer support.
The team provides both individual and group therapies to service users currently held by the CMHT and offers consultation to the two CMHTs in Stockport. We also work closely with other clinical teams including the Complex Emotional and Relational Needs Pathway.
The SCPT team consists of a mix of Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists who are trained in a range of therapies. In addition to individual therapy, we offer several groups co-facilitated with CMHT staff. We have also recently trained the team and other staff groups in the CCC Formulation Model (Isabel Clarke) and use this as a basis for consultation work.
The SCPT service is involved in Community Transformation and delivering the ambitions of the Community Mental Health Framework, with a particular focus on the Psychological Therapies for Severe Mental Health Framework (PT-SMHP) paper. As part of this, we are striving to ensure that all practitioners working into our service are accredited in, or working towards accreditation in, the therapies listed in the paper.
The post holder will work 4 days a week offering:
1. Outpatient individual and/or group therapy to service users currently under the CMHTs.
2. Consultation to CMHT staff (case discussion, team formulations, supervision, staff training and contribution to professionals’ meetings).
3. Supervision to other psychological therapists, and/or trainee psychological therapists when appropriate.
We would be interested in Clinical Psychologists of all therapeutic modalities applying for this position. However, we would also welcome applicants trained in, or interested in training in, Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) with the idea that the successful applicant might spend a discrete portion of their post offering this therapeutic intervention alongside other work.
Clinical supervision will be offered to the post holder and will be aligned with your preferred therapeutic modality.
