On behalf of our client, a specialist in engineering services including steel fabrication, cladding, CNC machining, and civil engineering, we are seeking a CNC Machine Operative for their manufacturing facility in Moray on a full-time basis.
The CNC precision machining workshop serves industries such as Oil & Gas, MOD, Nuclear, Water, Construction, and Marine, requiring precision-built parts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer-controlled machinery used for precision manufacturing. Attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and strong problem-solving skills are essential to meet strict specifications and quality standards.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Set up and configure CNC machines (milling, lathes, etc.) according to design drawings and specifications.
2. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD/CAM files to determine machine settings and specifications.
3. Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and materials; calibrate tools and machines for optimal performance.
4. Monitor machining processes and inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, ensuring compliance with tolerances and quality standards.
5. Perform regular maintenance and troubleshoot issues to prevent downtime.
6. Input, update, and adjust machine programs; operate manual or CNC editing tools to modify machine code.
Key Skills, Experience, and Attributes:
1. Highly organized and methodical approach to work practices.
2. Proficient in using measuring equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers, etc.
3. Knowledge of CAD-CAM software; FANUC experience is advantageous.
4. Ability to read technical drawings and details with high accuracy.
5. Diligent, proactive, and forward-thinking.
6. Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
7. Strong health and safety awareness.
8. Willingness to learn and adapt.
9. Good computer skills.
Additional Information:
Hours of Work:
1. 39 hours per week with possible overtime; flexibility is required.
2. Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Annual Leave: 28 days including bank holidays.
