We are looking for a proactive, flexible and enthusiastic SLT who demonstrates high levels of skill, knowledge and evidence-based management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders across the Voice/Head & Neck cancer pathways.
Our post is 1.0wte/37.5 hours per week in our Voice/Head & Neck services. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and extend your clinical and caseload management skills across these pathways.
We can offer robust support and supervision from both the SLT team and the ENT MDT.

Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team providing services to the Trust. The post holder will provide a service to Voice and Head & Neck patients referred to the department with communication and swallowing disorders, this will include inpatients and outpatients.

To provide a specialist service to patients referred to SLT demonstrating a high level of clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and management of communication and swallowing disorders.
To provide a specialist service to inpatients and outpatients within the Voice/Head & Neck pathway.
To contribute to the development of resource and knowledge for the department fostering innovation and continuous service improvement.
To have working knowledge of communication and swallowing clinical presentations and methods of intervention.
To manage own caseload and clinical priorities with guidance from the clinical leads.
To contribute to service clinical development and prioritisation.
To liaise with other professionals in the multi-disciplinary team and provide support and guidance to them on clinically relevant issues.
To form part of the multi-disciplinary team in ENT/Head & Neck services.
To provide effective and appropriate support, supervision and guidance for less experienced therapists and SLT assistants.
To provide clinical training of SLT students and apprentices.
To provide training to other staff, members of the public and involved professionals.
To ensure all documentation complies with professional standards and an accurate clinical record is available for each contact on the electronic patient record system.
To maintain confidentiality at all times relating to the patients, staff and the Trust.
To actively participate in the Staff Appraisal process.
To be familiar and comply with Operations, Personnel, Health and Safety policies and procedures including Fire, COSHH, No Smoking and Alcohol.
To ensure accurate and timely data collection according to Trust requirements.
To liaise with and provide appropriate operational management information to the SLT service.
To maintain a safe environment by adhering to local infection control policies.
To participate in research development and clinical audit in the area of work.
To attend and contribute to staff and care group meetings.
To attend meetings as required for clinical support and supervision.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
* Recognised degree in SLT.
* RCSLT membership
* HCPC registration
Desirable
* Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks (CEN)
* Accredited Dysphagia Training
Experience
Essential
* Evidence of working within the Voice/Head & Neck pathway in the acute setting.
* Evidence of working independently and in a team setting.
* Evidence of delivering teaching/training.
Desirable
* Experience of video fluoroscopy.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
* Ability to manage caseload
* In-depth knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions and assessment techniques.
* Demonstrates ability to be a good team member.
