It’s a technical leadership role in the truest sense. Let’s start with the people first. The ability to listen and deliver on promises will win hearts and minds. A good leader is also a talent scout, able to nurture, coach and develop. Here we’re talking about the wider operational teams, not just technical. Sharing your knowledge, simplifying complex data into workable solutions and empowering people to be their best is what you do.
Coming into the business, you’ll observe, evaluate, design and deliver a food safety, compliance and risk reduction strategy that will encompass the whole factory. Your successful delivery will have implications across the Group, and will be used as a benchmark for conformity, to create technical standardisation. So already you’re starting to see the impact and influence this role can bring.
This food manufacturer supplies mainly branded product into all the major retailers, with around 30% private label delivery. There is scope for growth, with an MD who has managed factory operations as well as commercial and who appreciates the value a strong technical team can bring.
Your background and experience will come from a manufacturing environment which involved a high degree of customer exposure. You’ll be seen very much as the technical ‘consultant’ in the business, called upon to advise on projects, NPD and liaise with the regulatory bodies. We’re therefore looking for someone with the gravitas and influence that come with that depth of knowledge and experience.
