We provide emergency short-term accommodation for women and men, with or without children, who are escaping abuse.
In your new role, you will:
1. Facilitate and support children in decision making; promoting choice and independence
2. Plan, prepare and deliver sessions to children on a 1:1 and a group basis, whilst parents are receiving domestic abuse support
3. Deliver regular individual and family sessions working towards improving the overall wellbeing of children as well as strengthening the family unit
4. Deliver innovative group sessions that coincide with local and national days of interest/event/celebrations
5. Organise consultations, meetings with children and parents to ensure parents are included in their child's play and development
6. Organise outdoor/indoor activities during half term for children and parents through consultations and meetings to meet needs of every child
7. Maintain client records, both written and electronic, and ensure effective communication within the team and with statutory or voluntary organisations involved in support (e.g., schools, social services, police)
8. Liaise with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure all children are safeguarded
9. Create local partnerships with health workers, schools, nurseries, social workers, etc., and draw up processes for referral pathways
10. Produce regular reports and monitoring information
11. Empower children and young people to develop a positive attitude to life and self-image, promote gender equality, and build on their strengths, confidence, and self-esteem
You will:
1. Be qualified, capable/willing to gain qualification, and/or have equivalent skills and experience to NVQ level 3 in Social Care
2. Have significant experience working with children, young people, and families
3. Have knowledge and understanding of issues related to vulnerable children, young people, and families
4. Be able to handle a demanding workload and prioritize effectively while maintaining attention to detail
5. Have experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level
6. Have experience working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining integrity and confidentiality
7. Be confident liaising with external agencies, including multi-agency working
8. Be able to address complex issues facing children and their families
9. Have access to a car and a valid driver's license
