The Headteacher and Trustees wish to appoint a Teacher of History (with RE) to join our outstanding Humanities Faculty. This post commences on 1 September 2025 and is a full time position.
We welcome applications from ECTs for whom coaching will be provided, as well as experienced teachers. The ability to teach History to GCSE is essential and A-level teaching may be available for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher. The ability to teach RE to some level is also essential.
The Humanities Faculty is very experienced, supportive and looks forward to a new colleague joining their team. Every student in KS3 studies Geography, History and RE with one Humanity being mandatory in KS4 (Year 9 upwards) but lots of students study two. All students take GCSE Short Course RE in Year 10. At A-level there are two A-level History groups with around 30-40 students typically choosing the subject. Students taking A-level History very often continue with the subject (or a very closely-related subject) to higher education. Around 15 students also study Politics at A-level each year.
We are very much a family and a team at NGHS; our colleagues work exceptionally hard to help each student to achieve their potential and they also support each other. We take staff well-being extremely seriously and our Well-being Charter is included in our application pack to show you what we do.
NGHS is an outstanding girls’ grammar school. We were recently inspected by Ofsted in November 2022 and the school was judged outstanding in every category, placing us in the top 3% of schools. Please read the report here ; you will see why I am so proud of our staff and students. We were recently ranked as the number one school in Shropshire and number 65 in the UK in the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2025. We have recently won a number of accolades rewarding our work in supporting Mental Health, Holocaust Education, the Be Kind Award and the AcSEED Award.
