This is a wide and varied role, liaison with other specialists in other SEN and mainstream schools will be a feature as well as Sussex wide organisations offering opportunities for participation in county wide events. Organisation of trips, expeditions, enrichment opportunities, liaison with parents, record keeping of events and budget responsibilities make this a central role within the college site of this school.
The HLTA role involves being a senior member of support staff. HLTAs cover teacher absences in any relevant class and regularly plan and deliver their own timetabled lessons. The organisation of off-site activities will also be a feature as well as hosting events and visitors.
We are looking for a qualified, organised and motivated individual who has a passion for PE & SEND and who can evidence experience in this field.
Essential training required to deliver the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award includes; Lowland Expedition Leader Award and 2 day Outdoor First Aid Qualification and will be provided to the right candidate.
However we are also prepared to consider anyone who has the right skills and is prepared to work towards a fully funded and accredited HLTA qualification and the Lowland Expedition Leader Award and First Aid qualifications detailed above.
The successful candidate will work as Trainee HLTA on Grade 5 (SCP 7-8 £18228-£18560pa) until successfully assessed as meeting the HLTA standards. Once the HLTA status has been officially achieved, they will move to a contract on Grade 8 SCP 20-24 and assigned their PE/DofE specialism.
The trainee applicant must be able to attend zoom training at the beginning of October 2023.
