You will bring to the role your considerable expertise and career experience, enabling us to develop and implement a strategic and operational approach to energy generation and distribution and to realise commercial opportunities Working with colleagues at all levels, you’ll be ensuring that Aster realises energy saving and carbon reduction and reviews value opportunities across our homes and supply chain. You will be seen as a subject matter expert and will be a ‘go to’ person in the business, providing support, expertise and guidance. The role will see you play a key position in the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy. Key accountabilities in the role will include: Leading the development and implementation of our strategic approach to energy generation and distribution, aligning with our wider sustainability and corporate objectives. Through our energy brokerage arrangements, procuring new utilities contracts to achieve value for money. Reviewing our current approach to utilities procurement and management to ensure we are making the best possible strategic decisions Leading activity to prepare for the forthcoming heat networks regulation and manage our relationship with heat network regulators (Ofgem, DESNZ, Code Manager) Using your extensive technical expertise and leadership abilities to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and drive actions to realise associated cost savings and carbon reduction across our operations, homes and supply chain About you You’ll have a natural desire to engage with colleagues and external stakeholders regarding the world of energy and what the future looks like in social housing. You will hold a relevant technical degree (energy management, engineering or building services) and will be able to demonstrate your career history in this field. You will hold full membership of a relevant professional body (eg Energy Institute, CIBSE or EMA). You’ll also come to the role with proven leadership skills and experience and a track record of delivering change programmes. Your strategic commercial approach to driving down energy consumption, cost and carbon emissions within large organisations will be demonstrable in your career history. This is a hybrid role, you will be required to attend meetings and complete site visits in our operating region, so you’ll require a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Our operating region includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and London, so you’ll be happy to travel within these areas.
