Cranleigh STEM is working with a business in the scientific and analytical sector, seeking a Senior Analyst to join their well-established laboratory team.
This is a full-time, permanent position within the Inorganics section, offering a hands-on role with advanced laboratory instruments and the opportunity to play a key part in delivering high-quality analytical results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out trace inorganic analysis on a wide range of samples, following established procedures.
2. Work closely with extraction staff to ensure samples are prepared to meet customer specifications.
3. Operate and maintain a variety of advanced instruments, including ICP-MS, IC, wet chemistry techniques, continuous flow analyser, discrete analyser, IC, elemental analyser, UV and IR spectroscopy, TGA, PSD, among others.
4. Train analysts and extraction staff within the Inorganic Section.
5. Manage sample preparation, including solutions and reagents, using standard laboratory protocols.
6. Lead assigned projects, including method development and validation.
7. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
8. Interpret and process analytical results for data entry onto LIMS.
Requirements:
1. Holds a BSc in Chemistry or a closely related field, or equivalent industrial experience.
2. Demonstrable experience in an accredited analytical testing laboratory, ideally in the environmental, food, or medical sectors.
3. Hands-on expertise with instruments such as ICP-MS, IC, and a range of spectroscopy techniques.
4. Skilled in sample preparation, including techniques like leachate extractions and various digestion methods.
5. Demonstrates flexibility in analytical approach, with the ability to handle high throughput and diverse analyses in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with knowledge of environmental contaminants and testing methods being advantageous.
8. Familiarity with Agilent software and Microsoft Office is desirable.
