Graduate Environmental Scientist / Planner
Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a graduate environmental scientist/planner for a permanent position within our expanding environment and ecology team.

About the role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will gain valuable experience delivering projects across a range of sectors, including transportation, infrastructure development, and tourism.
Your professional development will be supported through on-the-job learning and access to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, both in-house and with external professional bodies. This will deepen your understanding of planning, environmental, and sustainability issues and help you to build the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to become chartered.
* SEA and AA of Waterford and Wexford Visitor Experience Development Plans on behalf of Fáilte Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Planning and environmental appraisal of sites/lands.
* Preparation of supporting documentation for feasibility studies and planning applications.
* Preparation of inputs for and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
* Preparation of inputs for and coordination of Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs).
* Inputs to assessments of Climate Action Plans.
* Liaison with clients, stakeholders, regulators, subcontractors, and other internal disciplines as required.
* Knowledge of EIA and SEA processes.
* Good knowledge of planning, environmental, climate, and sustainability issues.
* Excellent scientific report writing and interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable working in a busy environment with tight deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail and quality outputs.
* IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Fluency/high proficiency in spoken and written English.
* Self-motivated, positive, proactive, and focused.
* Experience using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or similar.
* A desire for the delivery of environmentally sustainable solutions.
