Payroll Compliance Advisor (30 hours) - Support Office

Summary of role:
With the support of the Senior Group Payroll Manager, develop and deliver a structured approach to maintaining payroll compliance across the UK payroll.
Ensure payroll processes are compliant with UK tax laws, HMRC regulations, and statutory requirements, including National Insurance, PAYE, pensions, and statutory leave (maternity, paternity, sickness).
Monitor changes in payroll legislation, tax codes, and employment law, and implement necessary changes in payroll practices.
Lead internal payroll audits and work with external auditors to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy.
This is a part-time position of 30 hours a week. We can be flexible on days/hours worked. The position is hybrid, and therefore some presence in our office based in Diss is required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with reporting to HMRC.
2. Act as the point of contact for HMRC and other government bodies for payroll-related queries.
3. Provide expert advice on payroll issues, resolving queries from employees and management.
4. Lead system enhancements, upgrades, and implementations to improve payroll processes and ensure compliance with new regulations.
5. Identify and mitigate risks associated with payroll non-compliance.
6. Develop and maintain internal payroll policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
7. Provide training and support to internal teams on payroll compliance requirements and updates.
Experience and Key Skills Required:
8. A minimum of 3 years previous experience working within payroll is essential.
9. In depth knowledge of payroll legislation is essential
10. Experience working within a Payroll Compliance role is desirable
11. CIPP or equivalent qualification is desirable
12. Demonstrable Microsoft Excel experience working at an intermediate to higher level
