The Sectors Briefing Hub sits within the Business, Intelligence & Resilience Directorate. We are a busy, high performing but encouraging and friendly team, leading on Ministerial and Parliamentary briefing and correspondence.
The Sectors Briefing Hub prides itself on providing a supportive and friendly environment, where someone can take their drafting, organisational and relationship-management skills to the next level, and hone these while staying closely connected with some of the Department's key priority policy areas. The Directorate is a rewarding, dynamic place to work and strongly encourages flexible working and personal learning & development. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to develop and nurture their drafting skills and leadership ability.
This role is suitable for flexible working and can be based in London or at a departmental regional hub. Members across our team currently work flexibly, under a hybrid-working model and support will be given to ensure that the role fits with personal circumstances. All team members are highly encouraged to invest time in corporate activities for the team and wider DBT activities.
We are looking for 2 HEO Account Managers to help lead the team's work in this respect covering Creative, Consumer, Sport & Education sectors. These are high profile sectors for the Government and attract close scrutiny from politicians, the media and the public. The role is central in facilitating the delivery of key government priorities through correspondence, briefing and parliamentary work. It will require collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including policy teams, parliamentary & correspondence teams and Ministerial private offices and potentially colleagues across government. It is multifaceted and fast paced – you will be responsible for the following activities:
* Co-ordination of briefing requests, drafting cross-cutting and policy specific briefing and speeches to support Ministerial and senior official engagement on the policy team's meaningful topics.
* Providing tailored draft replies to Ministerial and Treat Official correspondence.
* Drafting responses to Parliamentary Questions, both Written and Oral.
* Drafting briefing and speaking notes for Parliamentary Debates and Urgent Questions.
* Building positive relationships with the policy teams in order to understand their policy priorities, ensuring they are sighted on "hot issues" emerging from correspondence and to build and maintain their confidence in the work of the team.
* Maintaining excellent links with Ministers' offices, Parliamentary Branch, and Special Advisers.
We are a collaborative team that works flexibly to respond to immediate priorities. The individual that holds this role may also be required to contribute to workstreams outside of those listed above in support of the wider team.
