Purpose of the Role:
To carry out development and design of new rail services and related workloads efficiently and effectively to comply with Network Code, industry and internal processes.
To work within the wider development and planning teams to ensure that new and ad-hoc train plans are designed, created and implemented in a timely and efficient manner, liaising with internal and external industry contacts as necessary to ensure that all parties are aware and in agreement with the proposed plans. Particular emphasis will be placed upon producing a plan that safely maximises profitability for Freightliner whilst meeting customer requirements.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Work as part of the development team to deliver train plans and associated information as required to meet customer and Freightliner obligations;
* Meet strict deadlines;
* Bid to Network Rail for any new services, STP;
* Bid to Network Rail for any variations to the WTT plan;
* Create train plans & diagramming to complement created rail paths;
* Liaising as necessary with industry partners and suppliers;
* Work with operations/planning functions and contracts managers as required;
* Work as directed by your manager;
Financial:
* Focused on continuous improvement to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness in the delivery of rail services;

* Contribute to the improvement of the safety culture;
* Taking reasonable care of own health and safety and that of any person who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work;
* Comply with health and safety legislation;
* Carrying out any work in accordance with any training, instruction or company procedure that is relevant to the position;
* Informing your line manager of any health and safety problems identified by yourself or identified to you by other people;
* Using any safety equipment provided by Freightliner that you have been trained to use in a proper and appropriate manner;
* All staff to comply with the Drugs and Alcohol policy RG-GEN 023;

* Work collaboratively with team members and other departments;
Key job requirements:
* Excellent knowledge of railway operations with a robust knowledge of railway geography is required;
* Good knowledge of the TOPS and rail planning tools/systems;
* Excellent planning and time management skills;
* Logical thinker with an analytical approach to problem-solving;
* A keen eye to continuously improve delivery and/or challenge perceived status quo;
* A thorough understanding of Freightliner’s business and its offering;
* Good computer skills, including the ability to use general office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
