Our client, a well known manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Leeds looking to appoint a H&S Manager to drive continuous improvement, promote best practices, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation specific to this manufacturing sector. Reporting directly to senior leaders, you will act as an essential advisor, guiding site teams toward fostering a culture of safety and compliance. Key responsibilities • H&S Leadership and Engagement: Actively engage and influence employees at all levels to achieve full health and safety compliance, supporting a safety-first mindset across the organisation. • Site Onboarding Programs: Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety onboarding program for employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure all site activities comply with health and safety regulations. • · Collaboration and Culture Building: Work closely with other departments within the company and across the group to shape the health and safety agenda and promote a culture of continuous improvement, engagement, and accountability. • Risk Assessment and Training: Oversee and ensure all site activities have updated risk assessments, providing or arranging for training where necessary to address specific operational risks. • Inspection and Compliance Audits: Conduct regular site inspections to verify policy and procedural compliance, liaising with regulatory bodies as required to maintain high standards. • Incident Management: Lead thorough investigations of all incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions promptly to prevent recurrence. Competencies: • Highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail. • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and effectively time-manage. • An observant and analytical personality with excellent problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and ability to give instruction to site personnel. • Embodies ‘safety first culture’ with a commitment to continuous improvement. • A “can do” work ethic with an ability to work on their own initiative. • Qualifications • IOSHH Managing Safely required, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification desirable • Minimum of 3-5 years Health and Safety Experience with experience in manufacturing sector • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Full Driving Licence
