The role
The Head of Operational Training is a pivotal role when it comes to the continued growth and development of the function. As well as leading, developing and supporting multiple regional trainers across the country, the Head of Operational Training will be accountable for generating revenue through marketing and cold selling of industry and sector-based courses, ensuring that we deliver "the best in class" solution for our internal teams, clients, social value partners, and the public.
Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:
1. Design and oversee the implementation of training programs that address the operational needs of the organisation.
2. Conduct training needs assessments to identify gaps and areas for further training or improvement, ensuring compliance is at the forefront.
3. Be an industry leader and advocate for the training delivered. Socialise this by utilising social media platforms and contacts, whilst influencing industry leaders and governing bodies.
4. Hold regular counsel with clients and suppliers to ensure we deliver on our contractual training requirements.
5. Conduct IQA and EQA assessments on a regular and compliant basis with all regional trainers, ensuring that the integrity of the training is maintained at all times.
6. Work closely with department heads to ensure training programs are relevant and effective.
7. Use metrics and feedback to assess the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.
8. Oversee the training budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
9. Increase revenue by marketing and selling the SIA course to the public.
10. Aligned with the Head of ESG, work to strengthen our social value portfolio, tapping into the government funds that are available.
11. Ensure all training programs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
12. Provide leadership and guidance to the training team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
13. Ensure that the team offers the "best in class" training by coaching and mentoring the team members.
14. Research and explore opportunities to tap into further funding and to create a stand-alone training entity.
The ideal candidate
1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources, CIPD Level 7 in Learning and Development, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
2. Proven experience in a senior training or operational role, with a track record of developing and implementing successful training programs.
3. Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
4. In-depth understanding of operational processes and best practices, as well as familiarity with training methodologies and tools.
5. Demonstrable man-management and leadership experience within the Security and FM sector.
6. Extensive experience understanding financial principles, with the ability to analyse and navigate the impact of financial decisions and problem solving.
This role is crucial for ensuring that employees are continuously developing their skills, and that the organisation remains competitive and efficient.
Location: Flexible with Travel
Successful candidates will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes. This could include the following: passport / driving licence / utility bill dated in the last 3 months / HMRC letter / original bank statement / original payslip / birth certificate / a valid share code.
