Job summary We are looking for a confident and well-presented individual to join our phlebotomy team. The collection of quality blood samples from patients is a vital stage in many medical investigations. The successful applicants must enjoy working with people and possess good communication skills. Based at Macclesfiled District General Hospital the successful applicant will be expected to work at all community centers including Knutsford community Hospital and Congleton War Memorial Hospital. You should have experience of working within a team and be able to work independently at all venues. Attention to detail is important along with basic keyboard skills and applicants should enjoy the challenge of working in a fast pace patient environment. It is a requirement of your role you have access to a car for work purposes which must be suitable for travelling to community phlebotomy clinics and transporting samples back to the hospital It is your responsibility to ensure the vehicle is insured for class 1 business use and the transportation of pathology samples. Expense will be paid in accordance with Trust Policy when you use your vehicle for work purposed. FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE ROLE. Main duties of the job We offer a phlebotomy service in a range of locations across Cheshire, including ward based services, community appointment based clinics. The post holder is required for the collection of venous blood samples for pathological analysis. The post holder will be required to work independently and as part of a team when required. They will be asked to liaise with other health care professionals, clinicians, laboratory staff, patients and/or their representatives, both in person and over the telephone. The role involves handling biological samples that may contain pathogenic micro-organisms; therefore, ensuring that all procedures are adhered to when undertaking blood sampling according to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and the policies and procedures of the department, especially in relation to Health & Safety and Quality.
