We are seeking applications from Social Workers who hold a Diploma in Social Work or an equivalent qualification and are registered with Social Work England. While experience in eating disorders would be desirable, this is not essential. We do ask that you have at least two years' experience in a Social Work capacity.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the large and expanding Northants Eating Disorder Service (NEDS). NEDS is a passionate and energetic countywide psychology-led service. The team currently comprises a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists (RMN), Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Specialist Dieticians, Occupational Therapist, Support Workers (including Peer Support Workers), Arts Therapists, and Assistant Psychologists.
NEDS is a well-established service, which has evolved over the past 30 years and is a pioneer of community-based approaches to treatment and support. We offer evidence-based treatment for the whole spectrum of eating disorders: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild-moderate cases of Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-eating disorder, through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide a high-quality social care service to people with eating disorders. Co-production and working in partnership with service users, carers, the MDT, and external agencies will be a key part of the role. As the successful candidate, you will be an excellent communicator, both orally and in writing, with clarity and precision. You will have proven problem-solving, analytical, and reflective skills, the ability to function effectively in the face of highly emotional and distressing problems, and a strong value base that drives practice. While you will be responsible for your learning and development, we will support you in setting goals and actions to progress your career.
We have strong working links with CMHTs, IAPT, Personality Disorder Service, and Complex PTSD service within the Trust, as well as with the Primary and Acute care sector.
Responsibilities include working within the referral and assessment protocols within the Eating Disorders service and wider pathway, addressing the mental health and social care needs highlighted by relevant agencies, formulating detailed care plans/packages of care for individuals, involving service users throughout assessment and treatment processes, and assisting in the appropriate use of the Mental Health Act with individuals requiring transfer to an inpatient hospital setting.
