An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the VP Finance within the newly formed Engineering, Technology & Safety (ET&S) team. ET&S includes 14,000 of our wonderful engineers and is responsible for c£2bn of engineering spend on research and development and products per annum. This is a demanding but rewarding role and you will be joining the team at a challenging and energising time as we drive to beat our mid-term targets as set out in our Capital Markets Day in November 2023. Reporting directly to the SVP Finance for ET&S and acting as a partner to the Director of Engineering Portfolio, Programme Management and Strategy for ET&S, you will play a critical role in aligning financial strategy with business objectives, ensuring optimal resource allocation across our project portfolio. You will drive data-led decision-making. You will work closely with stakeholders to plan, evaluate, and monitor performance across the portfolio, ensuring the successful delivery of key outcomes. What you will be doing: In this role you will provide insight on financial performance to support decision making and performance management, determining where interventions are required: Partner with senior leadership to drive strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting across the portfolio. Lead financial oversight of project and portfolio performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement robust financial models and tools to evaluate key project viability, return on investment, and resource allocation. Defining the right level of reporting and forecasting information to make a difference. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize portfolio performance and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate financial planning into overall business strategy. Work closely with our transformation team to ensure changes to our new ways of working as sustainable and relevant Lead portfolio reviews, preparing clear and concise reports for executive decision-making. Enhance financial governance and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency. You will bring a strategic mindset, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to influence at all levels. Extensive experience in financial planning, portfolio management, or a related role. Proven ability to manage complex budgets and forecasts within a project-based environment. Strong financial modelling, scenario planning, and risk assessment capabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders. Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Excel, Power BI). A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
