For more information, see www.wiggin.co.uk We're seeking an efficient legal biller to join our Billing Team, to provide cover for a colleague taking maternity leave. We would like someone to start in March (ideally) or April on a fixed term basis of up to 14 months. The team is managed by the Revenue Manager and sits within the Revenue function, as part of the Finance Department for the firm. While this role is offered as a fixed term contract, there may be other opportunities with the Finance Department at the end of the contract term. About the role As one of our legal billers, you will work as part of a friendly team to provide a high-quality service, with a focus on responsiveness, organisation, efficiency, and helpfulness. The main focus of this role is to produce timely and accurate legal bills which comply with the strict rules that govern law firms and with the service arrangements agreed with our clients. Those clients range from start-ups and entrepreneurs to major household names in media and technology, including major film studios, TV companies and games developers in the UK and internationally. The variety of client companies makes this role more varied and interesting. It also adds challenge, as they naturally expect excellent service. Your duties will include: Liaising with PAs to produce and prepare pre-bills within strict SLA timelines Attending billing meetings with the partners and revenue controllers, where appropriate, to take instruction and prepare invoices (using our Aderant software) for review by partners Responding to all billing related queries promptly Ensuring bills are finalised and despatched to the partner and PA promptly Escalating issues and seeking authorisation (where applicable) in accordance with our Billing Policy Raising credit notes in accordance with the firm's policy Writing off irrecoverable WIP and disbursements in accordance with our policies Client and matter data maintenance, rates and discounts, including time amends, transfers, write-offs and time splits Supporting the wider Revenue Team with ad-hoc requests About you We'd love to hear from you if you have relevant experience working in a finance team, ideally with exposure to billing, VAT and disbursements. Law firm / professional services experience would be ideal, but it isn't essential. You will need to have a good level of numeracy with excellent accuracy and attention to detail. We also look for great people skills - communication, team-working, flexibility and reliability are all important for success in this role.
