Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity for either a Category Manager looking to take a step up or a Senior Category Manager. Our client is a well-invested business, operating in a fast-paced food environment.
Key Accountabilities
1. Build relationships with key buying/category/range contacts, making us the most trusted supplier in the category.
2. Support the development of a category, innovation & brand cycle which works 12 months from the customers' planning processes, helping them to drive the long-term growth of the category.
3. Have a robust view on sector, category & consumer trends and can identify future opportunities and gaps.
4. Bring together shopper insights, market & retailer data to best understand & present the market & the consumer dynamics.
5. Lead category reviews, identify issues & develop recommendations to drive growth for the business & our customers in line with strategies & objectives.
6. Monitor outcomes through category analysis and make recommendations to correct if/when necessary.
7. Deliver agreed reporting schedule to retailer ensuring that range review recommendations, range change reviews, and NPD performance tracking are all delivered in a timely manner that fits retailer planning horizons.
8. Work with the NPD teams providing consumer/market insights to support the category and customer innovation processes.
9. Ensure that the Commercial teams are appraised of all analysis to deliver a consistent message to our customers, highlighting risks & opportunities.
10. Provide input to the commercial planning teams to aid future forecasts including innovation ROS and promotional uplifts.
11. Support the development of shopper marketing plans/promo plans/NPD launches linking with key stakeholders throughout the process.
12. Undertake group-wide projects e.g. Pricing, NPD, Packaging, Promotional Analysis; Seasonal Ranging, Events as and when required.
13. Support the wider category team in creating a centre of excellence, ensuring that we deliver for both our internal & external stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Good communicator, trustworthy, friendly & professional.
2. Commercial awareness.
3. Experience working in a commercial/category environment.
4. Preferred experience with various data delivery platforms (Kantar, IRI, Nielsen) and to be self-sufficient for the majority of day-to-day data mining & sourcing requirements.
5. Highly analytical & able to distil large quantities of data, information & ideas into key insights & actionable recommendations.
6. Organisational skills; prioritisation & time management.
7. Strong sense of team working, believes in winning as a team and creating a culture of best practice.
