Trust Specialty Registrar (ST3+ eqv) in Paediatrics
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has a great opportunity for a Trust Specialty Registrar (ST3+ eqv) to join the Paediatrics team for 12 months Fixed Term, with the possibility of a further extension. This post is available to start immediately. The appointee will have day to day responsibility for the care of inpatients on the general paediatric ward and neonatal unit, sharing this responsibility with trainees in post. Consultant led ward rounds are held daily. Appropriateness of their clinical and delegation skills will be monitored through regular colleague & patient feedback and appraisals. The post holder will also be involved in care of more complex in-patients under the supervision of consultants. A weekly MDT is held on Tuesdays in the neonatal unit and on Wednesdays in the general paediatric ward where all the in-patients are reviewed by the whole team, including the community nurses, the liaison health visitor and social worker. When on acute duties, the post holder may be asked to give medical paediatric advice to paediatric Surgical, Orthopaedic, Plastic and Burns, ENT or Ophthalmology patients.Applicants MUST hold a FULL GMC registration with the Licence to Practice in the UK.Please note: We anticipate this to be a popular post and may close earlier than the advertised closing date therefore early applications are encouraged.
Main duties of the job
This is a full time post to join our dynamic and enthusiastic Paediatric Department and support our team of Middle Grade doctors. The post provides an ideal opportunity for a suitably qualified individual looking to continue to develop skills in general paediatrics and neonatology. This post will be based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital with some duties at Wycombe Hospital. This post is to start ASAP to fill a vacancy on the speciality training (ST3-8) rotation.
The post holder will be encouraged to actively participate in teaching and clinical governance activities besides clinical activities for their continuous professional development. The post holder will have regular supervision meetings and appraisal to ensure that your appraisal covers your whole practice, including any non-clinical roles as part of the process of revalidation.
The successful applicant will have general paediatric and neonatal duties, including on call shifts for general and neonatal paediatrics. As part of the middle grade rota, the successful candidate will share on call commitments and shifts with the middle grade doctors.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualifications
* Full current GMC registration
* MRCPCH
Training & Experience
* NLS/APLS/PALS Course
* Minimum of 4 years in recognised Paediatric SHO/Registrar training post
* 6 months experience in a Tertiary Neonatal unit Outpatient experience
* UK Paediatric experience is essential
Clinical Skills & Knowledge
* Able to work without direct supervision
* Sound manual dexterity and competent routine practical procedures
* Clear logical thinking/showing an analytical/scientific approach
* Understanding of evidence informed practice
Organisation & Planning
* Ability to organize oneself, to manage time and tasks and prioritise clinical need within limitations of experience
* Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
Teaching
* Experience of teaching
* Teaching of medical students, nursing staff and other professional groups
ADMINISTRATION & AUDIT
* Familiar with current structure of health service and knowledgeable about recent initiatives and changes
* Through understanding of principles of medical audit
* Evidence of participation in audit project
* Some understanding of clinical risk management
* Appreciation of clinical governance issues
