Bristol Penguin Olympic Swimming Club (Bristol Penguins) based in Bristol, is looking to appoint a Masters Coach to lead our well-established Masters squad and deliver sessions at pools across Bristol. This is a part-time PAYE position of up to 15 hours per week and offers a competitive salary, depending on experience, expertise and qualifications held.
Bristol Penguins is a swimming club with around 630 swimmers. We teach the upper end of learn-to-swim, have recreational, competitive and performance pathways, a masters squad and dedicated provision for para swimmers and those with additional needs.

* Lead and coach a group of around 60 adult swimmers who take part for a range of fitness/wellbeing, competitive and social reasons.
* Lead and coach the University of West England Swim Squad – as part of our partnership arrangements with the University.
* Attend masters competitions – as part of paid overtime.
* Teach and coach other groups and work collaboratively with the wider coaching team to provide excellent provision for all our swimmers.
* Work with and take direction from the Head Coach – to provide the best possible structure, coaching experience and support for our swimmers.
* Work early mornings and weekday evenings and coach on either Saturdays or Sundays.
* Option to be part of the team coaching our open water swimming programme in the summer months.
Personal Qualities Required:
* Positive and hardworking.
* Maintains high professional standards whilst being personable.
* Works well within a team of paid and volunteer coaches.
* An effective communicator with adult swimmers, younger swimmers, colleagues and parents.
* Can effectively lead and successfully manage sessions with around 20 swimmers and a squad of 60 swimmers overall.
* A reflective practitioner who seeks to improve through feedback and continuing professional development (CPD).
* Share our core values.
Qualifications Required/Safeguarding Compliance:
We welcome applications from swimming coaches who hold the Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate (or ASA Level 2 Coaching Award).
A willingness to undertake a pool supervision qualification such as the RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) is desirable. The ideal candidate will have a UK driving licence and/or the ability to travel to different swimming pools within Bristol and the surrounding area.
The Club follows Swim England's Safer Recruitment Policy. An up-to-date DBS check and Swim England Safeguarding Certificate will be applied for if the applicant does not hold Swim England-approved certificates.
