We are looking to appoint an Information Governance Manager to provide management and expert advice on a range of projects and processes, including hands-on support for the day-to-day activities of the Team. We are looking for an experienced information governance practitioner who can clearly communicate the privacy agenda to internal and external stakeholders, assess data-related risks, and advise on the practical implementation of compliance processes to support the University’s strategic objectives.
You will manage a small team of staff and work flexibly, independently, and collaboratively, maintaining excellent standards when required to meet tight deadlines or during high-volume periods of work. Collaboration with other areas of the University is central to the work of the Information Governance team, and you will ensure that sensitive issues are approached with tact and diplomacy.
The Information Governance team works flexibly, with a mixture of on-campus and off-campus working.
The department
Governance, Legal & Compliance plays a key role in Sheffield Hallam's ongoing success, with responsibility for supporting the decision-making bodies of the University and for providing information, advice, and direction on corporate governance, assurance, legal, and regulatory issues.
The Information Governance team is part of Legal Services and supports the Data Protection Officer to provide specialist advice, support, and guidance to academic and professional services staff across the University to enable compliance with data protection legislation. The team also manages responses to Freedom of Information requests, subject rights requests, and data breach incidents. The team works with academic, research, and professional services staff to ensure compliant handling of the personal data of students, staff, applicants, alumni, participants in research studies, and other data subjects.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.
