Role background and Purpose Halfords is the UK’s leading provider of Motoring and Cycling services and products. The Group is listed on the London Stock Exchange and reported annual revenue of £1.7bn in its last set of results. Halfords operates a largely centralised Finance team of circa 110 based in Redditch. As Halfords continues to grow, we are undergoing an exciting finance transformation aimed at modernising our systems and improving operational processes. This transformation is designed to create a future-ready finance function that supports the business’s growth and strengthens financial controls. Having laid the groundwork by improving key finance processes, such as balance sheet reconciliations and rebate controls, we are now preparing for larger-scale transformation, including a potential ERP implementation. This next phase of our journey will involve working closely with IT to deliver a comprehensive plan that will drive the transformation forward. As Program Manager, you will lead and coordinate this ambitious transformation, ensuring all workstreams are aligned and progressing toward our strategic goals. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of finance at Halfords, managing high-impact initiatives that will deliver tangible results across the business. Key Responsibilities The Program Manager oversees the overall coordination and execution of the finance transformation program, ensuring that all projects and workstreams align with the transformation's goals and deliver on time, within scope, and on budget. Owns and delivers against high level integrated programme plan that outlines key projects, milestones and deliverables. Identify and manage dependencies between workstreams to ensure smooth execution and avoid bottlenecks. Monitors and manage programme timeline as well as costs and benefits. Proactively identify risks and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies. Ensures that adequate resources (people, technology, budget) are assigned to each project. Maintains scope and change control process. Delivers programme reporting to stakeholders within the governance structure (incl. RAID). Leads the weekly programme working group call and attends the programme steerco. Line manages the PMO analyst position. Main liaison between Finance and IT on delivery of technology enablers for their process area Accountable for process performance (sets and measures relevant KPIs to demonstrate improvement). Ensures finance processes support wider business goals. Faces into business transformation team to ensure finance are prepared for upcoming changes. Ideal Candidate Profile: Qualifications : A relevant project management qualification is preferred (but not essential). Experience : A finance leader with significant experience in leading significant change projects within a complex finance environment. Demonstrable experience in utilising programme and project management methodologies and tools. Experience managing relationships with third-party vendors and consultants Skills : Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of managing cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring accountability. Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, from C-suite executives to operational teams. Skilled at prioritising resources and adapting plans to meet evolving needs.
