The Council is seeking to recruit a Chargehand Groundsperson/Gardener on a full time basis working in the Grounds Maintenance service.

The role involves working in the Council’s Grounds Maintenance service undertaking the routine care of soft and hard landscaped areas including the daily responsibility of a small team of staff.
The successful applicant will be required to operate primarily from the depot facility at Eckington but must be prepared to work at any operating facility as required.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
1. Experience of team working including the supervision, motivation and communication with subordinate staff.
2. Experience of working to pre-targeted work schedules and to tight deadlines.
3. Substantial experience of amenity horticultural working practices.
4. Hold NPTC PA1/6 Pesticide application certificates of competence.
5. Experience in the use of specialist horticultural equipment and vehicles.
6. Experience of undertaking soft and hard landscaping works.
7. Knowledge and experience of preparations for burial of the dead and cemetery/churchyard maintenance.
8. Ability to sustain high levels of physical output and performance over prolonged periods.
9. Full clean driving license (category B+E).
10. Knowledge and experience of driving light commercial ( Tonne vehicles with trailers above 750kg.
