Passionate about making a difference for children and families? Then this could be the job for you!
Nottinghamshire Youth Justice Service is extremely committed to delivering help and support to children at the earliest opportunity. We are currently looking to recruit four Youth Justice Service Officers (YJSOs) to strengthen our work with children through diversion and preventative interventions, helping to reduce the number of children entering the criminal justice system. You will work directly with children and their families, supporting vulnerable individuals facing a range of complex problems to achieve positive outcomes.
The role will focus on working closely with partners to ensure that children receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to succeed. This will include working with educational partners to support children who may be at risk of exclusion.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, dedicated, and committed to making a difference for children and families. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, alongside a firm commitment to child-centred values. You should be able to work creatively and collaboratively, demonstrating excellent skills in building relationships with both children and their families to help them overcome challenges.
A good understanding of the criminal justice system and proven experience in addressing the needs of children, particularly those in or at risk of entering the criminal justice system would be beneficial.
Core Elements Of The Role Will Include:
* Gathering, evaluating and assessing information for use in the preparation of structured assessments and reports.
* Planning and delivering intervention to children, either one to one or as part of a group.
* Working independently, being able to prioritise work and meet set deadlines.
* Working in close liaison with colleagues from other agencies to improve outcomes for children and families.
This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families, helping them build brighter futures away from the criminal justice system.
Nottinghamshire YJS deliver an accessible service which is responsive to the needs of children and families and integrated with local partners’ ways of working. You should, therefore, be willing to work flexibly with there being an expectation to work outside of core hours where required.
County wide work and travel will be a requirement.
Interviews will take place on 6th May 2025.
This post is also available as a secondment opportunity to existing Nottinghamshire County Council employees. You must seek approval from your line manager before applying.
Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.
