Job Introduction A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and high performing individual to work in the new role of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) Practitioner. You will work closely with staff, students, families, education welfare officers and other agencies to support reintegration into school for individual children, who are unable to attend school for medical or mental health reasons. Main Responsibility You'll need to: Be passionate about education and have a desire to work with children who are unable to attend school for medical or mental health reasons. Promote good home school communication and ensure that the child maintains contact with the school and peers while not in school and support with planning for reintegration back into school. Develop the use of effective EBSA assessments and interventions to embed as good practice within the school. Every day you will be meeting with students, staff, families and professionals. Whilst some meetings are on-line, you will regularly attend meetings in school or undertake home visits. The Ideal Candidate You will have: Great personal skills to be able to build strong working relationships between students, families and the school, to raise awareness of strategies and find opportunities to work together to support the child The ability to work well on your own as well as part of a team. Resilience and confidence in contributing to parenting assessments, supporting with mediation, crisis prevention and conflict resolution To have effective IT and literacy skills, to support the completion of accurate documentation, reports and records relating to work undertaken with children, young people, and their families. Keeping Children Safe in Education The Blandford school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
