We are looking for a motivated individual to join the medical examiner role to join the team at the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation (NCIC) Trust. Our responsive and forward-thinking department is looking to become a member of a team medical examiners based across both sites.
This new post will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle or West Cumberland Hospital (WCH). The successful candidates will be expected to work across the two hospital sites (CIC and WCH) to provide clinical advice.
Main duties of the job
As a SAS or Consultant you will be required to participate in Appraisal and Job Plan Reviews on an annual basis and the revalidation process in line with your professional registration.
The successful candidate will be expected to work across the two hospital sites (Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven).

Knowledge, Skills and Performance
Essential
* Medical practitioner registered and licensed to practise in the UK by the GMC.
* Candidates must have successfully completed the mandatory e-learning modules by the time they start the role. Candidates must attend a face-to-face training session within the first three months in post.
* MEs should have up-to-date knowledge of causes of death and an understanding of the legal frameworks associated with death certification processes.
* IT skills including use of email and commonly used software
* Knowledge of the special requirements of various faith groups and respect for equality and diversity
Safety and Knowledge - Clinical Governance
Essential
* Knowledge of local and national clinical governance systems and an understanding of how the ME can work collaboratively to improve patient safety by identifying sub-optimal clinical and organisational performance.
