About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal HV/MV Electrical Engineer to support the technical capability of our clients Electrical Design team. This role focuses on the design, assessment, and maintenance of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems and infrastructure, with opportunities to work on significant projects in safety-critical industries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Excellence: Develop, specify, and assess HV and MV electrical design packages.
2. Reliability & Operations: Define reliability and operational constraints for electrical systems and infrastructure.
3. Design Assessment: Evaluate the condition, design, and ageing mechanisms of HV/MV electrical systems.
4. Safety & Security: Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols and promote a culture of safety throughout projects.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
1. Extensive experience in HV and MV electrical design engineering, including:
2. HV/MV and LV distribution systems.
3. Protection systems and control & instrumentation (C&I) systems.
4. A strong understanding of British and international design standards.
5. Experience in infrastructure design and maintenance in complex or high-hazard environments.
6. Analytical skills to evaluate risks, condition, and operational constraints of electrical assets.
7. Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and to required standards.
Desirable:
1. Experience within the nuclear or defence sectors is highly advantageous.
2. Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition.
Qualifications & Training
Essential:
1. HNC or equivalent in an electrical engineering discipline.
Desirable:
1. Degree or equivalent qualifications in electrical engineering or a relevant discipline.
Additional Details:
1. This role requires SC clearance and applicants must meet criteria for UK Security Vetting.
2. Permanent staff or umbrella contract options are available.
