SEN Class Teacher – Primary SEN School, Tower Hamlets
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate SEN Class Teacher to join a specialist primary school in Tower Hamlets, catering for children with complex needs, autism, and communication difficulties. Role Details and Key Responsibilities – SEN Class Teacher
1. Plan and deliver differentiated and engaging lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with autism and complex communication difficulties.
2. Use specialist teaching approaches, including visual supports, sensory strategies, and structured learning environments, to support children’s development.
3. Work closely with therapists, support staff, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to learning.
4. Assess and track pupil progress, ensuring that EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) outcomes are met.
5. Foster a calm, structured, and positive classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and learning.
6. Engage with parents and carers, providing regular updates and strategies to support learning at home.
7. Contribute to the wider school community, participating in training, school events, and collaborative planning.
Who We Are Looking For – SEN Class Teacher
1. A qualified teacher (UK QTS or equivalent required) with experience in SEN education, particularly autism and communication needs.
2. Someone with a patient, compassionate, and creative approach to teaching.
3. A strong team player who works well with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals.
4. Knowledge of specialist SEN strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, and sensory integration techniques.
5. Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a calm and structured learning environment.
6. A commitment to inclusive education, ensuring that every child is supported to reach their full potential.
