Tripadvisor is hiring a Sales Manager for our Cruise Critic web site. Cruise Critic is the world’s largest cruise reviews and information site, offering a comprehensive resource for cruise travellers which covers audiences from first-time cruisers to avid cruise enthusiasts. Cruise Critic features more than 350,000 cruise reviews and hosts the world's largest online cruise community. Cruise Critic was the first consumer cruise site on the Internet, launched in October 1995 by The Independent Traveler, Inc., now a subsidiary of TripAdvisor, Inc.
We are seeking a smart and energetic online advertising Sales Manager. This position will quickly help grow the company's business in both display and CPC. The successful candidate must be assertive, creative, resourceful, and enjoy working in a highly entrepreneurial environment. The position requires outstanding sales, leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The candidate should possess a gift for developing and maintaining relationships, and an exceptional understanding of digital media.
The successful candidate will be based in and will be responsible for hitting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Travel may be required up to 20%. This position reports to the Head of Sales for Cruise Critic, based in London, UK.
What You'll do:
1. A customer-oriented person with a strong commercial mind-set and influencing skills, capable of convincing and engaging people.
2. A results oriented consultative seller that can help identify and solve challenges with our largest clients
3. A dynamic person, used to working independently in fast-paced environments and with great organizational skills.
4. A high-performing professional with demonstrated business development experience in building and developing deep and wide relationships with clients
5. A self-starter, results-oriented person who loves to reach and exceed targets.
6. Help develop, test and then champion new products in market
7. Work cross-departmentally to optimize the UK site
8. Work successfully and energetically on the phone, in groups, as well as with in person client meetings
9. Bundle different types of advertising products to create a successful portfolio for your advertisers (e.g. CPM media, CPC media, sponsorships, text links, etc.)
10. Extensive relevant work experience
11. Extensive experience selling online advertising with responsibility for an annual quota of at least $1 million
12. Recent and successful track record of sales to the travel industry is a plus
13. Broad expertise and unique knowledge of the travel industry, with a heavy focus on cruise
14. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and sell strategically
15. Track record of developing long-term relationships with (and commitments from) clients and agencies
16. Strong analytical skills
17. Excellent online, written and verbal communications skills
18. Teamwork skills essential; sense of humour required; overdeveloped sales egos must be checked
