Field Service Engineer
Hourly rate: £12.45ph
Based at: Wallasey Service Centre CH44 7HX - full UK driving licence
Full Time - Hours: 8:00 - 17:00 Mon-Fri
We are currently looking for Field Service Engineers to join the team within our Wallasey Service Centre, covering contracts in the following areas: Wirral, Wigan, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, South Sefton & Southport and Formby. We welcome applications from people residing in these areas. As a healthcare equipment provider, Ross Care works in partnership with the NHS to supply necessary equipment and aids to support people in their day-to-day life.
Job Purpose:
To enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service required by completing initial training in the workshop reconditioning wheelchair equipment to gain essential product knowledge. Upon completion of initial training, you will work in the field delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs. The expectation is that once fully trained, most jobs will be completed on a first-time fix basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivering and collecting wheelchairs to and from service user's homes and NHS departments, ensuring adherence to the Company Infection Control Policy.
2. Servicing and repairing wheelchairs in the field with the aim of achieving a first-time fix whenever possible.
3. Ensure all paperwork relating to each job is read carefully and completed with all necessary information regarding parts used and actions taken.
4. Use any PPE supplied for duties as instructed.
5. Once fully trained, undertake out of hours responsibility when rostered.
6. Observe all regulations covering driving and use of the Company vehicle on public highways and be aware of employee responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act.
7. Keep the vehicle tidy and ensure stocks of all necessary parts are replenished daily.
8. Perform weekly vehicle safety checks and complete the van check sheet.
9. Maintain a professional customer service attitude, always wearing your uniform and identification badge, ensuring the uniform is clean and laundered.
10. Prioritize and organize your workload, referring to the Line Manager as appropriate.
11. Be responsible for the maintenance and safe keeping of all tools and equipment provided by the Company.
12. Agree to undertake all necessary training to maintain the skills required for this role.
Qualifications:
1. Full UK driving licence
2. Successful enhanced DBS check
3. General workshop knowledge
4. Basic electrical knowledge including 12v/24v D.C. systems
5. Able to move and handle loads and equipment safely
6. Experience of face-to-face customer contact
7. Previous delivery driver experience
8. An awareness and understanding of people with disabilities
9. Flexible approach to working conditions
10. Ability to use own initiative within set boundaries of the role
11. Ability to use a mobile phone to relay photographs
12. Good written and verbal communication skills
13. Ability to relay clear instructions to clients
14. Awareness of hand-held scanners
Physical Demands of the Job:
1. Moving and handling equipment and accessories following handling guidelines
2. Standing at a bench to work
3. Kneeling/crouching
4. Working in confined spaces if necessary
5. Use of ramps and other agreed moving equipment
Most Challenging Part of the Role:
1. Flexible working/responsive to changing priorities set by the Line Manager or Customer Service team
2. Availability for short notice overtime due to emergency response requirements
3. Responsibility of out of hours duties
