SEMH Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start
We are seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant for an immediate interview and start. This is a full-time, long-term temporary position with the potential for a permanent contract.

Requirements:
Experience and training in trauma and attachment
Knowledge of SEMH, ADHD, autism, and ODD
Flexibility, calmness, and the ability to align with the Academy's ethos
Confidence in running one-to-one interventionsJob Purpose:To support the educational, social, and emotional development of students with SEMH needs, ensuring they reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:Support Learning:
Assist students on an individual or small group basis with their educational activities
Adapt educational programs to meet the needs of students with SEMH
Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to SEMH requirementsBehavioural Support:
Help manage students' behaviour within the classroom to maintain a positive learning environment
Implement behaviour management strategies to assist students in managing their emotions
Support individualized behaviour plansEmotional and Social Support:
Build positive relationships with students to understand and address their needs
Offer emotional support to help students build self-esteem and resilience
Facilitate social skills groups and activities to enhance peer relationshipsMonitoring and Reporting:
Track students' progress and provide feedback to relevant staff (SENCO, pastoral teams, teachers, and parents)
Keep accurate records of students' achievements, behaviours, and incidents
Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)Collaboration:
Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff
Liaise with external agencies to support students' SEMH needs
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunitiesEnvironment:
Assist in maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment
Support the implementation of health and safety policies and practicesQualifications and Experience:Essential:
Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning)
Experience working with children with SEMH needs in an educational setting
Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies for supporting studentsDesirable:
Additional training in SEMH (e.g., mental health first aid, behaviour management)
Experience with specific interventions and programs (e.g., THRIVE, Boxall Profile)
