NES Fircroft are currently recruiting an Electrical Principal Engineer on behalf of our client at Wilton, Redcar. This is a contract opportunity, start ASAP and will be 6+ months.
Job Role:
We are currently looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join the client, to lead a Renewable Hydrogen project within their Major Projects division. With extensive experience in Brownfield and Greenfield projects, covering FEED and EPC work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technically responsible for all Electrical Engineering work and allocating, supervising, and directing preparation of project deliverables. Subject to project size, will delegate some level of supervision and specific checking activities to appropriate competent personnel.
2. Capable of formulating resolutions and supervision of technically challenging and/or high-profile issues, with support from Consultant Engineer / Lead Engineer or Project Engineering Manager, and effectively communicating with Clients and Senior Management.
3. Supervises, reviews, and checks the Electrical activities including: Philosophies, Specifications, Schedules, Drawings & Diagrams, Datasheets and Technical Requisitions for long lead items.
4. Identifies and resolves discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract by raising technical queries with projects / client.
5. Capable of participating in Factory Acceptance Tests.
6. Participates in multi-discipline Engineering Design Reviews and provides all necessary Electrical engineering input and support to close out of actions.
7. Identifies a clear scope of work and prepares the Master Document Register (MDR). Responsible for planning / scheduling the Electrical Engineering activities and manpower resource. Quantifies the total number of engineering deliverables, man-hour allocation and format of delivery, and other requirements for execution of the work. Provides necessary regular project controls / reporting input to Project Management.
8. Provides support to Procurement including for long lead item enquiry prepares Technical Requisitions, reviews vendor documentation, and provides Technical Bid Evaluation support to ensure design conformance.
9. Ensures compatibility and conformance with client specifications and recommends cost effective improvements to equipment selection / specifications within the scope of client specifications and requirements.
10. Consults Quality Assurance with any quality issues ensuring compliance with the client's ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures.
11. Co-ordinates Internal and client audit requests and facilitates audit procedures of engineering systems within the department. Complying with the client's accredited frameworks such as ISO 14001.
12. Performs related duties as and when instructed by the E,C&I Group Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. BSc / BEng, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
2. Chartered Engineer is desirable.
3. Minimum of 10 years general engineering experience with at least 7 years in the Process & Energy business sector focusing on the design office and field engineering.
4. Design and commissioning of HV and LV electrical systems and provide associated calculations.
5. Design of power distribution systems.
6. Responsible for updating, maintaining, and controlling Electrical Engineering technical documentation.
7. Well-developed understanding of Matrix management systems and organisational structures.
8. Good organizational and time management skills.
9. Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering design programs.
10. Leadership ability/skills with ability to delegate effectively.
11. Understanding of British and common international standards and regulatory authority requirements in the Process & Energy Sector.
12. Construction and commissioning site experience.
