Marrons have a unique opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our new South East region, working alongside an experienced and growing team of town planners and socio-economic consultants.

Marrons has grown rapidly over the past 5 years to become a top-25 UK planning consultancy, alongside complementary socio-economic, heritage, masterplanning and architectural services. We have bold growth plans across the South East, and are looking for people with enthusiasm and drive to come and be part of this newly formed team based in Kent.
The role:
The Senior Planner role will be vital in helping to achieve our growth ambitions, helping to lead projects, build client relations and champion the Marrons brand. As a Senior Planner you will continue to develop your career working collaboratively with colleagues within our multi-disciplinary consultancy, alongside having ample opportunities to build client relationships and start developing your own workload.
You will be involved in projects from the outside, working closely with colleagues, clients and other consultants, to manage schemes from initial advice and early design stages, right through to achieving consent and discharge of conditions and planning obligations. There will be opportunities to support and be actively involved in Planning Appeals and Local Plan Examinations. The key duties will be:
* Advising on development potential of land and buildings
* Assisting with preparing planning applications and appeals
* Providing policy advice and research
* Drafting representations to plan consultations and examinations
* Assisting in identifying land opportunities
* Working with clients and other consultants to deliver development
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The ideal candidate would have a range of experience working on both strategic land and development management projects, whether with another consultancy, within the development industry or within local government.
In addition, you will need:
* A relevant Planning qualification
* Membership of RTPI or working towards membership
* An understanding of the planning process and systems
* Excellent writing skills with a strong eye for detail and high level of accuracy
* Excellent communication skills and a friendly approachable manner
* Drive, commitment, enthusiasm and a team player approach

The role is hybrid, with an expectation to work in an office environment in Kent at least 2 days a week.
The location is currently flexible and will partly be influenced by the location of the right candidate, as well as existing members of the South East team. We will be utilising local co-working opportunities until we take permanent/service office space in Kent, anticipated to be in late 2024/early 2025.
Our presence in the South East is also supported by our existing hubs in London, Bristol, Southampton and in several other locations across the UK.
