Department: Research and Development (R&D) Location: Rochester (maybe some travel to other locations) Role Purpose: As the R&D Project Manager (NPI/Technical) you'll be joining the Project Management team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of products that make a tangible, positive impact in the real world. You will be planning and coordinating the projects within the R&D department, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. This role involves planning and executing project strategies, coordinating activities within cross-functional teams, and driving innovation to achieve the company’s strategic goals. Will also be responsible for project risk management, stakeholder communication, and ensuring that all project deliverables meet the required quality standards. The successful candidate will be working alongside the existing Hardware, Mechanical, Software, Verification & Validation and Project Management teams but should also be comfortable working on their own. Who you’ll report to : PMO Lead What you’ll be doing Y our responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: Create and maintain relevant project plans and documentation to ensure project progress is well understood by the project team members, ensuring that stakeholders are updated on project delivery requirements and responsibilities. Assist in the development of processes and apply project management tools & techniques to facilitate the on-time delivery of projects. Facilitate the on-time delivery of projects by through assisting in the development processes and apply project management tools & techniques such as Zoho and Jira. Maintain clear communications with subcontractors to ensure any 3rd party activities are controlled and held to budget Support the company’s New Product Introduction process ensuring that all deliverables for each project gate are completed and accurately recorded to maintain ISO9001 traceability. Produce and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant internal and external stakeholders. Facilitate on-time project delivery against agreed scope. Effectively use appropriate techniques to manage timely update of project plans and documentation, tracking changes in project scope, schedule & costs (as applicable). Assist in the development of project scopes, objectives and documentation involving all relevant internal and external stakeholders. In the absence of the PMO Lead or R&D Director, take accountability for project management across the department. Person Specification We are looking for individuals with experience working within a technical or engineering NPI environment with knowledge of Electronics, software and mechanical products. Qualifications Desirable: Degree/HND in an IT, Software, electronics, or Computer Science related field (or equivalent) Experience Essential Experience of working with electronic and software products through the product development lifecycle. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager preferably in an electronics development environment. Experience of working within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Desirable Experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry Project Management experience with Waterfall & Scrum development environments Formal Project management qualification (Prince 2, APMP, PMP) Knowledge/Skills Essential Must be able to demonstrate ability to plan and deliver complex projects Must be able to demonstrate ability to prioritize multiple activities Expert use of Excel and PowerPoint Confident in the use of Zoho and MS Project or any other project planning tool Desirable Extensive use of Zoho Personal qualities Critical Thinking and Active Listening : Proficient in critical thinking and actively listens to understand and solve complex issues.
